Position Summary: Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure) for Online Negotiations Course
The Department of Management at Michigan State University seeks a fixed term (teaching-oriented) faculty member to teach an online master’s negotiations course beginning January 2026. The ideal candidate will demonstrate successful experience teaching similar courses and have a graduate degree in a field relevant to teaching management.
The “Negotiations and Conflict Resolution” course (MGT 863) focuses on the art and science behind effective negotiations and conflict resolution. It covers how to prepare for negotiations, what styles are effective in different situations, and strategies to use to create and claim value. Students in this course develop effective communication and conflict resolution skills. The course offers opportunities to practice negotiating and resolving conflict through role-playing exercises. Possible settings for examples and exercises include strategic negotiations, buyer-supplier relationships, dispute resolution, and intraorganizational conflict.
This course runs for five weeks and is offered every other semester. Instruction is 100 percent online—both asynchronous and synchronous. Each week of the course includes recorded videos and live lectures/discussions. The instructor is expected to develop the course website and instructional materials (including videos) prior to January 2026. All work can be done remotely within the U.S.
This course is part of the Master of Science in Management, Strategy, and Leadership (MSL) program at Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business. US News and World Report ranks this program among the top 10 online master’s in business programs.
