The Department of Management, Technology and Economics (D-MTEC, www.mtec.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position.
The successful candidate is expected to develop and lead a cutting-edge research programme focused on understanding, shaping, and supporting the role of current and future leaders in employing emerging technologies – including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence (AI) – to address critical societal challenges. The research should generate insights and guidance on how leaders make decisions, assess their impact, and organise for long-term success in the context of technological and societal transformation. A broad methodological approach is expected, incorporating both field and laboratory studies as well as both qualitative and quantitative methods. Candidates should demonstrate strong competencies in key areas such as technology leadership, managerial decision-making and cognition, human-technology interaction, and the design of work and organisations. Active engagement with the corporate world is considered essential.
The ideal candidate is an internationally recognised scholar with an outstanding publication record in top-tier management journals and a proven track record of innovative teaching activities for a diverse student body at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as in continuing and executive education. In general, at ETH Zurich undergraduate level courses are taught in German or English and graduate level courses are taught in English. Experience in leading teams of doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers towards excellent research outcomes is essential.
