The School of Economics and Management (SEM) houses three first-level disciplines: Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, and Applied Economics. Its talent cultivation and scientific research have developed distinctive strengths, with teaching and research achievements consistently ranking among the top tier of similar institutions nationwide.

The school boasts a high-caliber faculty team led by academicians and featuring renowned scholars, including Chang Jiang Distinguished Professors (awarded by the Ministry of Education), national leading talents in philosophy and social sciences, recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and outstanding young scholars. It pioneered and promoted the use of management case teaching methods in Chinese universities, establishing itself as a trailblazer in management case education in China.

In the fourth round of China's Discipline Evaluation by the Ministry of Education, both Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration received an A-rating. In the fifth round, both disciplines achieved further breakthroughs. The school is one of only six business schools in China to hold two A-rated (A-/A/A+) disciplines.

The school has consistently pursued international and domestic accreditations as vital tools for its development and global engagement. It is the seventh institute in the Chinese mainland that obtained AACSB.EQUIS, AMBA, and CAMEA accreditations. This achievement made the school the 7th institution in China to hold the "triple crown" of international business school accreditations (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) plus the CAMEA accreditation, completing a grand slam of top-tier domestic and international business school accreditations.

Dalian University of Technology (DUT) is a national key university directly administrated by the Ministry of Education of China and sponsored by Project 211 and Project 985.
