The Department of Management at Michigan State University seeks an instructor to teach an online master’s staffing course beginning Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will demonstrate successful experience teaching similar courses and have a graduate degree in a field relevant to teaching human resource management. The Instructor rank requires a master’s degree. The Assistant Professor rank requires a doctoral degree.
The “Human Resource Staffing” course (MGT 811) covers the fundamentals of the topic including strategic staffing, job analysis, recruitment, selection, and legal issues in talent acquisition. The course provides relevant theories, research findings, policies, practices, and legal guidelines for acquiring and managing talent in organizations. Class activities include interactive discussions, case studies, and exercises. Students gain understanding of staffing systems and become familiar with associated methods, tools, and strategies.
This course runs for five weeks and is offered every other semester. Instruction is 100 percent online—both asynchronous and synchronous. Each week of the course includes recorded videos and live lectures/discussions. The instructor is expected to develop the course website and instructional materials (including videos). Support will be provided for course development. All work can be done remotely within the U.S.
This course is part of the Master of Science in Management, Strategy, and Leadership (MSL) program at Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business. US News and World Report ranks this program among the top 10 online master’s in business programs. For further information about the MS MSL program, visit: https://broad.msu.edu/masters/management-strategy-and-leadership/
