Goddard School Overview
The John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics provides quality education for career-oriented students. Our faculty are leaders in transformative education and in knowledge creation and dissemination. Principles that are important to our mission include fostering learning through excellent teaching and close student-faculty interaction, the synthesis of theory across disciplines, application of theory to practice through applied research, and dissemination of practical business information throughout the community. Degree programs include Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Master of Business Administration, Master of Accounting, and Master of Taxation. Brief Job Description
The Dean of the Goddard School will serve as an academic leader for the school within a university environment that fosters collaboration and shared governance. The Dean will also act as the holder of the Vernon M. and MaRee Buehler Leadership Chair, with an accompanying stipend and responsibilities to serve as a highly visible and respected presence locally, nationally and internationally; to be engaged in significant civic and academic events; to bring noted business and economic leaders to the WSU campus; and to lead in the internationalization of the Goddard School and its curriculum, among other responsibilities. In addition to supporting the Goddard School’s academic mission, the Dean will lead enrollment and reaffirmation of accreditation efforts. As a member of the university leadership team, the Dean will work collaboratively with the Office of Academic Affairs and other academic colleges. The Dean will also be expected to work closely with the Office of Advancement in fundraising efforts and will play a key role in relationship development with alumni and donors.
Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in a program within the Goddard School.
Evidence of excellent teaching, with experience and willingness to promote high-impact experiential education.
Evidence that the candidate has conducted and values high-quality and high-integrity research.
Evidence of effective community engagement and fundraising.
Demonstrated leadership and experience in academic administration, which includes managing budgets and recruiting, mentoring, and evaluating faculty in the tenure and promotion process.

The ability to engage as a collaborative partner with all faculty and departments to implement a long-term strategic vision that advances excellence in teaching, research, service, and assurance of learning.
The ability to provide leadership and support to maintain AACSB International accreditation.
The ability to create, nurture, and maintain a productive, unified, and collegial culture within the Goddard School.
The ability to constructively resolve interpersonal and interdepartmental conflicts within the Goddard School.
Experience managing funds and ensuring rigorous accounting practices across departments.
Experience representing and advocating for both graduate and undergraduate programs.
Experience working with faculty, staff, and students to guide the scholarly, professional, and extracurricular activities of the school.
A history and commitment to foster and manage the acquisition of state, federal, and private funds.
Experience communicating, collaborating, and negotiating with other campus leaders, including other deans, the Provost, other administrators, and shared governance groups to promote and advocate for the Goddard School.
Experience building and enriching valuable relationships with external stakeholders.
Experience leading or actively participating in national and/or international professional organizations, such as serving on boards of professional societies or national accreditation organizations.
